Puzzle Notes
Dear friends:Tonight's puzzle is a tricky midi from Brooke Husic called "YOU are the visual, baby," which we understand to mean those who engage with a work of art (such as a crossword puzzle) are an integral component of it. A longtime lover of "The Wasteland" and its endnotes, Brooke has recently enjoyed providing post-solve clue annotations for her blog puzzles and did the same for her midi tonight here (spoilers, obviously).
Brooke says: This is the last midi from the 2023 Lil AVC X team and aligns with my departure from Lil AVC X. I am so grateful to everyone who's solved our midis and supported our venue. It's been an absolute privilege to work with and learn from the seven 2022 roster members, twelve 2022 guest constructors, eleven 2023 roster members, twelve 2023 used-to-be-new editors, and our incredible group of test solvers and fact checkers.
My fullest, most heartfelt thanks goes out to Chris Piuma and Enrique Henestroza Anguiano, two brilliant constructors and editors who developed, edited, and led the venue with me in early 2021. I can't speak highly enough of their principles, thoughtfulness, and generosity, and am delighted to join their ranks as a Lil AVC X alum.
